Welcome to my new online journal of sorts. For a long time now I have been putting this off, focusing for months and months on updating the rest of my website.  Well that is finished, and so here we are. I have no idea what will go here, maybe what I am thinking about, listening to, watching, reading or experiencing. All I know is that it is time to throw out the old and start something new. With everything going on in the world right now I seem to be thinking a lot about compassion. I met up with my wife for lunch the other day and she had brought a couple cups of hot chocolate for some homeless men. She’s always thinking of others. Recently my son posted a quote on Instagram from the Dalia Lama that rang true with me: “Compassion is the radicalism of our time.” These things make me think that maybe we can stop blaming others for our problems (globally and personally), and start showing a little more compassion. Be a radical!

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
